This past weekend I went on a short trip to the small Indian city of Deoband, as well as to a nearby Muslim Sufi Dargah and to the city of Hardiwar. Deoband, is known mostly for its world famous Madrassa, Darul Uloom. It is home to over 15,000 students who will serve as Islamic scholars and Imams all over South Asia and beyond.
Hardiwar is a major pilgrimage site for Hindus located in North India. In addition to dipping in the river, which they believe washes away their sins, they also offer worship offerings to the river, known as Mother Ganga.
Anyway, here are several of my favorite images from the trip.
